Police Impersonator Investigated
Kewanee Police are investigating an incident reported at 2:49 am on
March 10, 2011 that involved contact with what appears to be someone
impersonating a police officer. The victim was a 31 year old female who
was not injured.
The victim stated that a white car with
slightly tinted windows and a single blue flashing light on top stopped
her near the 200 blk of W. McClure Street in Kewanee. She described the
suspect as a male Caucasian, 35-45 years old, with a larger build and
approximately 6 feet tall. He had dark hair and a mustache. He was wearing
a dark colored rain jacket with an unidentified emblem on
it.
The male suspect reportedly tried to pull the victim out of her car
but she was able to drive away from the threat. The suspect then returned
to his vehicle and fled the area toward Beach St South. Officers were
unable to locate the suspect vehicle.
Anyone who may have
observed what appeared to be a traffic stop near the Hollis and McClure
intersection at 2:49 am, Thursday, March 10, 2011, or who may have any

Couple Suspected in Theft
Kewanee Police need your help in identifying a couple who are suspected of stealing money from a local laundromat and who may have committed similar crimes in other towns.Police say and man and a woman entered the Midtown Coin Laundry on Burr Boulevard in Kewanee on January 27th, 2011 between 6 a.m. and 6:30 a.m.
Surveillance video shows the man manipulating a change machine to steal around $300 in quarters while the woman acted as a lookout.
The woman was wearing a black coat and a gray "old Navy"
sweatshirt. The man was wearing an "East Coast Choppers" sweatshirt.
Police believe they were driving a maroon Ford Windstar
Van.

Theft of Guns Investigated
The Henry County Sheriff's Office is investigating the theft of a large quantity of guns from a rural Geneseo residence.
Sometime before Wednesday, November 10, 2010 a rural Geneseo residence was entered and several guns were taken, including handguns, rifles, and a shotgun. Also taken was a laptop computer.
Stolen guns are one of the greatest threats to public safety, and often end up in the hands of criminals. Armed Robbery at CSB
Kewanee Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at around 9:20 AM on Friday, September 3rd, 2010, at the Community State Bank office at 300 N. Main St. in Kewanee.
The suspect is described at a white male, age in the 20's, with dark middle length wavy hair, wearing a light blue shirt and blue jeans. The suspect entered the bank and demanded cash. No weapon was displayed. The suspect fled on foot in a southeast direction from the bank.

Armed Robbery at Negley's
Kewanee Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at around 5:00 AM on Sunday, August 29th, 2010, at the Negley's Coin Wash, 318 W. 6th St. in Kewanee.
The suspect is described as a black male, around 5'10", with braided hair, and was wearing a white T-shirt and dark pants. The suspect displayed a handgun and demanded money. The suspect then fled on foot to the west of the business.
A witness reported that the suspect may have exited a car parked at the corner of 6th and Lexington Streets before the robbery. There was no description of the vehicle.

Armed Robbery at Cenex
An armed robbery was reported to the Kewanee Police
Department that occuured at around 2:48 A.M. on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at
the Cenex convenience store on the corner of 3rd and East St. in
Kewanee.
The suspect entered the store, displayed a knife to
the clerk and demanded cash. The suspect then fled east on E. 3rd St. with
an undetermined amount of cash. 
The suspect is described as a black male, around six feet tall, and was wearing some type of red covering over his face. He wore large round sunglasses and a black coat with fur around the hood.
Anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in that area or who has information on the suspect is encouraged to call police at (309) 853-1911 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-227-2324. $1000 Reward in Animal Abuse
Henry County Crime Stoppers is now offering a $1000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for the abuse of "Dutch" the cat. Dutch was the victim of abuse in rural northwestern Henry County and was being treated at Miller Vet Service in Atkinson, IL. Dutch died from his injuries Wednesday night.

Authorities need your help in a case involving animal cruelty in Henry County.
On April 5, 2010, a call to authorities resulted in the discovery of a domestic cat being tortured in the area of Ropp Rd and Dutch Bottom Rd in remote northwestern Henry County. No suspects could be located at the time of the discovery.
The nature of this incident will result in criminal charges relating to animal cruelty to whoever was responsible.

Motorcycle, ATV TheftsAuthorities need your help in solving two thefts in our county.
In October of 2009 a motorcycle was taken from a garage near the intersection of SE 1st Ave. and SE 5th St. in Galva, IL. Taken was a green and yellow 2006 Kawasaki KX-450 motocross racing bike. It had racing decals and gold rims. This distinctive motorcycle is designed for racing and had the number 169 to identify it during competition.
Another theft that needs your help occurred in December of 2009 in the 4300 Blk of IL Hwy 82 south of Cambridge, IL. Taken from a garage was a green Kawasaki 750cc Brute Force ATV with a gun rack.

Armed Robbery in Kewanee
At approximately 5:47 p.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2010 an armed robbery occurred at a residence in the 200 block of E. 2nd St. in Kewanee.
According to the victim, three male black suspects confronted him at gunpoint and at one point struck the victim in the head. The suspects removed several items and fled in a black Chevy Monte Carlo.
